Upstate man was drunk when he crashed: DA

RIDGEWOOD — An upstate man was charged with drunk driving March 17 after smashing into another car in Ridgewood, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Around 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Decatur Street and Forest Avenue, David Divers, 28, of Rochester, made a wide right turn, crashing into the front of another vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA’s office.

Police responding to the scene found Divers smelled of alcohol, slurred his speech and was unsteady on his feet, the DA’s office said. Divers admitted to having one drink at 11:30 a.m., the DA’s office said. An intoxilyzer exam showed his blood alcohol level was .087, above the legal limit, the DA’s office said. Divers was arraigned March 18 and released on his own recognizance.
