Cambria Hts. man honored by YMCA

A Cambria Heights resident who works for Time Warner Cable was honored by the Harlem YMCA last week for his community involvement, the company said.

Michael Skinner, a Cambria Heights man who has worked at Time Warner’s Flushing office for 15 years, was inducted into the Harlem YMCA’s Academy of Black Achievers and was given a Black Achiever Award by the group during a ceremony last month at the New York Marriott Marquis.

Skinner produces and hosts community−based talk radio shows for Adelphi University and Medgar Evers College, Time Warner said.

The Cambria Heights resident was one of 34 people honored at the March 15 event.

Other honorees included Clarence B. Jones, a speechwriter who helped craft Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech; the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem; and Butts’ wife, Patricia Butts.
