Thief stole car left running by owner: Cops

BAYSIDE — Police said they were searching for a thief who took off in a vehicle Sunday while its owner left the car running when he was inside his Bayside house.

The suspect stole a 1997 Dodge Intrepid while its owner was inside his home on the Clearview Expressway in Bayside, police said. The car’s owner left the vehicle running, so the thief jumped into the car and drove off, police said.
