SOUTH OZONE PARK — An older man was killed in an auto accident Sunday afternoon as he was trying to cross Lefferts Boulevard, police said.

William Burger, 64, of Richmond Hill, was walking from the west side of the boulevard to the east between 135th and 149th avenues around 4 p.m. when he was struck by a 2005 Nissan Maxima traveling northbound on Lefferts, according to investigators. Burger was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where he was declared dead less than an hour later, police said.

The unidentified 24−year−old driver of the Maxima stayed at the scene and was not charged, according to the police.
