Florida man drove drunk on holiday: DA

QUEENS VILLAGE — A 20−year−old man was arrested on drunk driving charges last week after he allegedly celebrated Memorial Day more than he should have, authorities said.

The Queen District Attorney said Latchman Dayal of Winter Gard, Fla., was arrested at 10:20 p.m. May 25 after allegedly running a stop sign at the corner of 213th Street and 90th Avenue. Police arrested Dayal after he registered a blood−alcohol level of .082 on an Intoxilyzer test, authorities said. The legal limit is .08.

The DA said Dayal allegedly told police, “I had a beer. It’s Memorial Day weekend you know.”

Dayal was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court May 26 on two counts of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and one count of running a stop sign, the DA said.
