Police name victim in Flushing hit−and−run

FLUSHING — Police said they have identified a man who was struck and killed by a car in front of Flushing Hospital last week.

Police said 49−year−old Dae−Kyeom Kim of 43−19 165th St. died after attempting to cross the street near the corner of 46th Avenue and 165th Street at 8 a.m. May 26. Police said after stepping out from between two parked cars, Kim was struck by a 2008 Nissan Altima.

EMS officials who responded to the scene took Kim to New York Hospital Queens, where he later died, police said. Kim was not taken to Flushing Hospital, located on the same block where the incident occurred, because the medical facility does not have an operating trauma center, authorities said.

Police said no summonses were issues and no criminality is suspected.
