Flushing man killed Brooklynite: Police

BROOKLYN — A Flushing man was arrested and charged with the murder of a Brooklyn resident Friday, according to police.

Authorities said 26-year-old Gavin Sullivan was shot and killed near his home at 1540 East New York Ave. at about 2:45 p.m. Friday afternoon. EMS officials who found Sullivan rushed him to Brookdale Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said 30 year-old Kareem Cunningham of 140-30 Ash Ave. in Flushing was arrested on murder and weapons possession charges for Sullivan’s murder the next day.

Cunningham was awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
