2 boro stores harassed by same man: Brown

ELMHURST — A Manhattan man was arraigned last week on charges of injuring a person inside a store and wrecking another nearby shop, the Queens district attorney said.

Toufique Miah, 31, of 285 South St., was charged June 30 in Queens Criminal Court with several criminal counts, including assault and harassment, according to DA Richard Brown.

On June 14, he allegedly entered the Merrit Farm store on 74th Street and sprayed an unknown substance in the eyes of a man, according to the criminal complaint. On June 29, Miah went inside a candy store on 74th Street and demanded the owner give him $100 while banging his hand on the counter, the DA said.

He then allegedly grabbed a radio and threw it on the floor before the owner gave him the money, according to the complaint.

When the owner said he would call 911, Miah allegedly said, “If you call 911, I’m just going be in jail for 24 hours, but when I come out, you’re done,” according to the DA.
