Road rage in Rockaways leads to man’s arrest

ROCKAWAYS — An unlicensed motorist was arraigned last week on several charges after he allegedly went on a road rage tirade at the intersection of Shore Front Parkway and Beach 84th Street, the Queens district attorney said.

Brian M. Kane, 51, was charged with driving without a license, unlawful overtaking on the right and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle June 30, DA Brown said.

Around 2 p.m. June 29, Kane was in his Jeep honking at another person’s car when there was no emergency and then entered the right lane, disobeying pavement markings, according to the criminal complaint.

An officer arrived in a police vehicle with her sirens on and stopped the motorist, who could not produce a driver’s licence, insurance card or registration, the DA said.

Kane allegedly told the officer, “I don’t have time for this,” and to have her sergeant meet him at the post office before speeding off, according to the criminal complaint.

The officer caught up with the motorist 17 blocks down the road and arrested him, the complaint said.
