East Elmhurst man charged in street assault

ASTORIA — An East Elmhurst man was charged with assault after he allegedly hit a man in the head with a brick in Astoria, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney’s office said Tuesday.

Abdelalui Sene, 30, of 22-60 79th St., allegedly hit the man with the brick between 3:30 a.m. and 3:35 a.m. July 18 in front of 41-04 31st Ave. in Astoria, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint said the victim suffered bleeding, swelling, bruising and a laceration to his head from the attack and was taken to a Queens hospital where he received two staples in his head.

Sene was arraigned Aug. 5 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Stephanie Zaro on charges of assault, criminal possession and harassment, the spokeswoman said. Zaro released Sene on his own recognizance, she said.

Sene’s next court date was scheduled for Sept. 15, the spokeswoman said.
