Fla. woman had metal knuckles in luggage: Cops

EAST ELMHURST — A 22−year−old Florida woman was arrested after a pair of metal knuckles were allegedly found in her belongings as she went through a security checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport, the Queens District Attorney said.

Sarah Sems, of Lakeworth, Fla., was arraigned Jan. 7 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Ira Margulis on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant, released on her own recognizance, will return to court Feb. 11, the DA said.

A transportation security agent allegedly found the metal knuckles as the defendant’s luggage went through an airport X−ray machine, the DA said. The defendant allegedly told police that she had put the knuckles in her bag and then forgot about them, Brown said.
