Corona man charged with drunk driving

ASTORIA — A 49-year-old Corona man was arrested after he allegedly drank and drove recklessly at an intersection in Astoria, the Queens district attorney said.

Karimeh Duqmaq, of 102-43 43rd Ave. in Corona, was arraigned Oct. 9 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Mary O’Donoghue on charges of reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, Queens DA Richard Brown said.

The defendant, released on his own recognizance, will return to court Nov. 17, Brown said.

On Oct. 9, police pulled over the defendant after they allegedly spotted him swerving his 1998 Infiniti into another lane at the intersection of 23rd Avenue and 43rd Street in Astoria, the DA said.

After being pulled over, police allegedly noticed the defendant’s eyes were watery and blood shot and that he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, Brown said. The defendant allegedly admitted to having more than one drink, the DA said.
