LIC woman made false insurance claims: DA

LONG ISLAND CITY — A Long Island City woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly submitted more than 50 false insurance claims for health care treatments she did not receive, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Regine Leconte, 33, allegedly received $3,800 from the Cigna Insurance Co. after she gave them phony claims for the treatments she never underwent, the DA said.

The woman was arrested by the Queens district attorney’s Special Prosecutions Division following an investigation by the state Insurance Department’s Frauds Bureau, the DA said.

Leconte was charged with grand larceny, forgery and insurance fraud. She faces up to seven years in prison, the DA said.
