ASTORIA — Police in the 114th Precinct were searching Tuesday for a man who robbed and tried to rape a woman early Sunday morning.

Around 4:20 a.m. at 42nd Street and 30th Avenue, a woman who was leaving the N train station nearby was grabbed by a Hispanic man who threw her to the ground, took her cell phone and then tried to sexually assault her before fleeing on foot, police said.

The suspect is 5-foot-6 and about 165 pounds, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police asked anyone with information regarding this attack to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
