Man busted after drawing gun during fight: Brown

SOUTH JAMAICA — A Long Island man was arrested after threatening another man with a gun and then lying to police about his identity, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Joseph Fermin, of Lake Grove, L.I., got into an argument with a woman at a residence near Sutphin Boulevard and 125th Avenue around 9 p.m. Dec. 9, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA’s office. When the woman’s brother intervened, Fermin allegedly pulled out a silver .38-caliber revolver and pointed it at him, the DA’s office said.

When police responded to the scene and detained Fermin, he told an officer his name was Albert Chappelle in an apparent attempt to avoid the fact that he had been convicted of weapons possession charges in 2004, the DA’s office said.

Fermin was charged with felony weapon possession, menacing and giving false information, the DA’s office said. He was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
