Man flees after crashing car on highway: Cops

EAST ELMHURST — Police arrested an Astoria man driving with a suspended license after he allegedly fled a crash on the Grand Central Parkway Feb. 13 that left his passenger injured, authorities said.

Bobby Tortora, 27, of Astoria, lost control of his 1989 Ford Mustang while driving near 108th Street in East Elmhurst around 4 a.m., police said. He collided with a concrete pillar, police said.

Tortora left the scene, leaving behind his injured 19−year−old passenger, police said. The victim, whose name the police have not released, was taken to New York Hospital of Queens.

Tortora surrendered at the 115th Precinct station not long after the crash and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license, police said.
