Staten Island man jailed after Flushing bar fight

FLUSHING — A Staten Island man was charged with robbery and assault after attacking a fellow bar patron, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

At 1 a.m. on Dec. 31, Joseph Ferrara, 27, grabbed a 25−year−old man sitting in Emerald Pub at 183−01 Horace Harding Expwy., grabbed the gold chain the victim was wearing and punched him in the face, knocking him down, according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA’s office.

The two men took the fight outside, where a woman bashed Ferrara over the head with a pool cue to get him off the victim, the complaint said. Ferrara grabbed the pool cue and hit the woman with it before running off, the complaint said.

Ferrara was arraigned Friday, the DA’s office said. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. His next court date is March 6.
