Insurance worker lied on car crash report: DA

ST. ALBANS — A 26-year-old woman was arraigned last month for allegedly scamming her insurance company with false reports, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Sandra Merrill of Linden Boulevard was charged with insurance fraud and attempted grand larceny, according to the DA’s office.

Merrill allegedly lied that her 2000 Audi A-6 was stolen and filed a claim for $6,000 Jan. 24, according to the criminal complaint.

In reality, she had crashed the car into the intersection of Linden and Farmers boulevards and attempted to flee the scene, the complaint said.
