I just had to write to express my appreciation for the article “A Survivor’s Tale” (TimesLedger, March 15-31). True stories of this kind are the best news to read. People like Mirian Detres-Hickey inspire and lift our spirits. It is so unselfish of her to share her dark past. She shows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel no matter how horrible things may be.
I enjoyed the article and think it would make a great movie — even better than “Precious.” I hope it serves as an inspiration to those who are in an abusive situation. I will definitely read her book.
