3 Brooklynites beat driver in Richmond Hill: DA

RICHMOND HILL — Three Brooklyn men were arraigned on assault charges after they allegedly broke the window on a car in Richmond Hill, dragged its driver out and beat him, the Queens district attorney said.

Haleem Antone, Brian Joseph and Benedict Reyes, all of whom are from Brooklyn, were arraigned May 3 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Deborah Stevens Modica on charges of assault, criminal mischief and harassment, Queens DA Richard Brown said.

On May 2, the defendants were alleged to have broken the rear passenger window of a vehicle on 131st Street and Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill and punched its driver, the DA said.

They are accused of dragging the driver out of the car, throwing him to the ground and then kicked and punched him several times, Brown said. The victim suffered bruising and swelling to his eyes, the DA said. A cut on his lips was bleeding and his nose was scratched.
