How’s Business? Queens car shop a class act

I met recently with Audra Fordin, owner of Great Bear Auto Repair and Auto Body Shop at 164-16 Sanford Ave. in Flushing. She was featured on Channel 7 Eyewitness News for classes she offers to women about cars and mechanics.

Fordin is a fourth-generation owner of Great Bear, which specializes in mechanical and auto body repair. She is also wife to her husband, Ed, of 13 years, mother to three children, a member of the PTA and a Girl Scout troop leader.

I asked how she is able to accomplish all of this and she said, “If you have to get things done, you give it to a busy person.”

She explained what has made Great Bear a lasting and successful company. She said, “Our shop is a licensed New York state inspection facility and we service all foreign and domestic vehicles. I have six experienced mechanics on staff plus myself so that we can handle the volume of clients we have, as well as expedite getting them their vehicles back and repaired properly.”

I asked her to tell me something about her facility that stands out. Fordin said, “We do little things like shuttle our clients back to their homes while their vehicles are being repaired. I sincerely have a committed passion to what I do, so I really do care about how my client feels when I return their car to them. Be it mechanical- or auto body-related, we take real pride in our work.”

Aside from having gained the honesty and trust of her clients, Fordin has incorporated an iPhone application, DVD series and handbook to make her clients’ experience as painless as possible while getting the job done.

So How’s Business regarding Great Bear Auto Repair and Auto Body Shop? Fordin was full of energy and helpful in answering questions and lending automotive advice. She loves what she does and is proud of her business. Fordin summed up her business etiquette as such: “If I touch it, I guarantee it.” That speaks volumes in today’s world of consumer skepticism.
