LIC man hit victim with metal pipe 4 times: DA

WOODSIDE — A Long Island City man is facing assault and harassment charges after he allegedly attacked another man with a metal pipe in Woodside, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Richarid Ruiz, 28, of 34-05 12 St. in Long Island City, allegedly hit the victim between 9:15 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. May 25 in front of 31-23 Greenpoint Ave. in Woodside in the back of the head four times with the pipe, causing bleeding, bruising, blurred vision and swelling to the man’s head, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he received 10 stitches to the back of his head, the complaint said.

Ruiz was arraigned May 27 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Deborah Stevens Modica and released on his own recognizance, the DA’s office said.
