Brooklyn man hit, shook Queens woman: Brown

JAMAICA — A Brooklyn man was charged with assault and harassment after he allegedly beat a woman in Jamaica, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Garthland Gillings, 26, of 1677 President St. in Brooklyn, allegedly struck the woman in the chest and neck area with both his hands, then grabbed her by the chest area and shook her before squeezing her right arm between 4:20 p.m. and 4:35 p.m. May 26 in front of 144-41 94th Ave., the criminal complaint said.

An officer said he saw bruising and redness on the woman’s neck and chest, the complaint said.

Gillings was charged with assault and harassment during his arraignment May 27 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Deborah Stevens Modica, who released him on his own recognizance, the DA’s office said.
