Texan tried to bring gun, ammo onto flight: Brown

LAGUARDIA AIRPORT — A Texas man on vacation in New York was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly tried to bring a gun and ammunition onto a flight leaving from LaGuardia Airport, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Carl Jones, 40, of Arlington, Texas, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon after he allegedly told airport officials he had a .380-caliber firearm in his luggage July 4, according to the DA. Officials then allegedly found about 50 rounds of ammunition from Jones’ luggage, Brown said.

The Texas man had been vacationing in New York since June 30, according to the DA.
