Flushing man involved in hit-and-run: Brown

FLUSHING — A 42-year-old Flushing man was arrested after he allegedly struck another vehicle at the intersection of 20th Avenue and the Whitestone Expressway and left the scene of the accident, the Queens district attorney said.

Rudolph Kaval, of 119-59 27th Ave. in Flushing, was arraigned July 12 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Toko Serita on charges of leaving the scene without reporting and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, Queens DA Richard Brown said.

The defendant was held on $3,000 bail.

On July 10, Kaval allegedly slammed his 2000 Nissan into the back of a 2009 Hyundai at 20th Avenue and the Whitestone Expressway in Flushing, causing that car’s passengers to experience pain to the head, neck and back, the DA said.

The defendant then allegedly fled the scene and was spotted by an eyewitness as he exited his vehicle, which was missing its front bumper, Brown said.
