B’klyn man robbed of cell phone in Howard Beach: DA

HOWARD BEACH — A 30-year-old Brooklyn man was arraigned last Thursday on charges of robbing a man in the area of Howard Beach July 22, the Queens district attorney’s office reported.

According to the DA’s office, Jonathan Jones and an unapprehended male approached a man around 9:38 p.m. at the intersection of 81st Street and 151st Avenue. Jones allegedly wrapped his arms around the victim’s shoulder and asked him where he was going, the DA’s office said.

When the victim did not answer, Jones allegedly punched him in the face, which caused the victim to fall to the ground and bruise his right cheek, the DA’s office said. Jones and the unapprehended male then allegedly removed the victim’s backpack, shoes, MP3 player and cellphone from off his person, the DA’s office said. Afterwards, they fled, the DA’s office said.

Jones’ next court appearance is Aug. 20.
