MTA must fix its problems before increasing fares for straphangers

The latest noise from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is not good. It is proposing to hike fares on all public transportation and area bridges and tunnels to help close the large gap in its budget.

Once again, the burden for all of this will fall on all hardworking people who rely on public transit, bridges and tunnels for commuting purposes. The MTA executives should all take a pay cut. They are paid some of the most bloated salaries in the New York area.

Clean up your own house, MTA, before you start unnecessarily raising fares we New Yorkers are sick and tired of having to pay for lousy service and poor roads!
