Bank robber caught near scene of the crime: Cops

FOREST HILLS — A Forest Hills man was arrested Aug. 11 after he allegedly robbed a Forest Hills bank the same day, police said.

James Colantuono, 26, allegedly entered the Chase Bank on Metropolitan Avenue, told a teller he had a firearm and demanded cash, according to the police.

The teller handed over an undetermined amount of cash, and Colantuono allegedly fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended by police not far from the scene at 70th Avenue and Olcott Street, the NYPD said.

No firearm was recovered from the suspect, police said.

Colantuono was charged with robbery, assault and criminal contempt.
