Police need help catching armed bank robber

JAMAICA — Police have asked for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted for an armed bank robbery.

On Friday at 8:32 a.m., a black man wearing a Yankees baseball cap, black T-shirt and blue jeans entered the Chase Bank at 184-01 Hillside Ave. in Jamaica, approached a teller and displayed a silver handgun folded into a newspaper and demanded cash, according to police.

The teller gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and the suspect fled on foot. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported, police said.
