Reckless driver tries to avoid arrest: Brown

JAMAICA — A man was arrested two weeks ago for disobeying a police officer after he drove recklessly, the Queens district attorney said.

Kerries Johnson, 36, was arraigned Jan. 8 on various charges, including reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest, the DA said.

On Jan. 7 around 9:30 p.m., Johnson was traveling on 11th Avenue near 147th Street when he crossed the double yellow lines into on-coming traffic, the criminal complaint said. He then allegedly cut back to the other side and cut in front of a marked police car, according to the DA.

Even though the officer turned on his sirens, Johnson kept driving, with two young children sitting in the rear, and eventually reached his home, the complaint said. When the officer questioned the driver, Johnson allegedly cursed at the officer and flailed his arms in the air when he was handcuffed, according to the complaint.
