Drunk driver fell asleep at the wheel: Brown

REGO PARK — A Rego Park man was arraigned Friday in Queens Supreme Court on charges he fell asleep behind the wheel while allegedly driving drunk, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Police found Gregorio Rabusa, 57, sleeping in his car at the intersection of Eliot Avenue and Queens Boulevard in Rego Park a little after 4:15 a.m. Friday, the DA said. Rabusa’s car was parked in a traffic lane with the engine running, according to Brown. When police approached the Rego Park man, they allegedly noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the DA said.

Rabusa told police he was “coming from a bar” and that he “had four beers before 4 o’clock,” Brown said.

He has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
