Man beat with batons and robber: Police

JAMAICA — Two men have been charged with beating and robbing a man on the streets of Jamaica, police said.

Roberto Louis, 29, of Brooklyn, and Jazmaine Stallings, 28, of St. Albans, allegedly struck Carlos Rodriguez repeatedly in the head and body with expandable batons between 5:10 and 5:20 a.m. Sept. 26 at the northwest intersection of Jamaica Avenue and 184th Place, police said.

While they continued to strike him with the batons, Stallings allegedly stole a chain with a pendant from Rodriguez’s neck, police said.

Police said they later recovered batons from Louis and Stallings’s pockets, and the chain from Stallings’s pocket.

Rodriguez sustained multiple lacerations to his face, head and eyes and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

The defendants were arraigned Sept. 26 and released on their own recognizance, police said.
