Officer struck by bar patron: Police

BAYSIDE — A rowdy patron assaulted an officer as he was being escorted out of a bar early Sunday morning, police said.

Philip Farrelly, 47, was charged with assault after he allegedly caused a scene at the Brews Brothers bar on Bell Boulevard, according to police.

Shortly before 1 a.m., the owner of the establishment asked Farrelly to leave after he became disorderly, investigators said.

He allegedly did not comply and kept on acting irate, according to police.

When the police arrived, Farrelly elbowed and struck an officer in the arms and body while he was arrested, police said.
