Woman attacked beau with scissors: DA

BAYSIDE — A Long Island woman was charged with assault after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend with a pair of scissors during an argument, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Around 8 p.m. Jan.27, Jessica Torres, 23, of West Hempstead, L.I., got into a fight with her boyfriend at a residence on 34th Avenue, the DA said. During the dispute, Torres allegedly slapped him, bit his arm and cut his head with the scissors, the DA said. When she was arrested, she told police she acted in self-defense, the DA said.

Torres was arraigned last Thursday and released on her own recognizance. Her next court date is March 9.
