Man attacked with coffee cup in Bellerose: Brown

BELLEROSE — A Bellerose man was arraigned last week on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment after he allegedly pushed another man to the ground and hit him over the head with a ceramic coffee cup, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Ramon Torres, 37, allegedly did this to another man March 7 between 2:15 p.m. and 2:49 p.m. in front of a house on Torres’ home street on Jamaica Avenue near 221st Street, the DA said. The alleged assault caused the man swelling and an abrasion on his left cheek and had to be treated at a local area hospital, the DA said.

“We just wrestled but I didn’t hit him with a cup,” Torres allegedly said to the police, the DA said.

Torres has been released on recognizance and his next court date is April 14, the DA said.
