LIC teen scalded child with hot penny: Brown

LONG ISLAND CITY — A teenager was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child after scalding a 7-year-old child with a red-hot coin, according to police.

Mohamed Aljamal, 17, of 39-23 24th St., Apt. 3E, heated a penny with a flat iron used for straightening hair at around 4 p.m., according to a criminal complaint from the Queens district attorney’s office.

Aljamal then placed the scalding coin in his hand and allegedly pressed it to the face of the child, causing a substantial burn, according to the DA.
