Firefighters almost die in 3-alarm blaze: Post

ROCKAWAYS — Two firefighters narrowly avoided death while fighting a three-alarm fire in a three-story Rockaways building, according to the New York Post.

Fire Lt. Richard Barnes got caught in a collapsed floor before being rescued by other firefighters, the Post said.

Firefighter Evan Davis rapelled out of a window at the building, at 424 129th St., to escape the blaze, officials told the Post.

A dozen firefighters were treated for minor injuries, according to the Post.
