Man hit another with bat in Murray Hill: DA

MURRAY HILL — A Connecticut man was arraigned on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment last week after he allegedly hit a man in the head with a bat in Murray Hill Feb. 18, the Queens district attorney’s office said.

Annas Omari, 24, of Elm Street in Windsor Locks, Conn., allegedly approached a man in a grocery store at around 1:30 a.m. on 162nd Street near Northern Boulevard and began to yell and curse at him. After the man left, Omari allegedly grabbed his shoulder, twisted him around and hit him with a baseball bat, the DA said.

The blow knocked the man out, knocked out one of his teeth and loosened five teeth to the point where they required extraction, the DA said. The victim also suffered injuries to his lip and face, the DA said.

Omari was released on recognizance and his next court date is May 18, the DA said.
