Car crash sends three people to hospital: Cops

REGO PARK — Three people were hospitalized Saturday afternoon after an elderly driver lost control of his car and crashed, head-on, into a nail salon, the authorities said.

The 82-year-old driver of the sedan was trying to park in a spot outside the boutique, at 97-30 63rd Rd., around 5 p.m. when he accidentally hit the accelerator, police said.

The car went through the glass door of the store and hit three people, eyewitnesses said. The victims were taken away by ambulances but no one was killed, the authorities said.

The driver’s wife and daughter, who asked not to be identified, rushed to the scene from their nearby Rego Park homes to console him. He was not hospitalized but was visibly shaken as officers cleared the scene.
