JACKSON HEIGHTS — Three Long Island men were arrested last week during the gay pride parade for allegedly verbally and physically abusing three revelers, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
Gustavo Rojas, Abel Cabrera-Rojas and Luis M. Franck, all from Riverhead, were arraigned June 6 on assault, resisting arrest, aggravated harassment and harassment charges, according to the DA’s office.
The three men allegedly punched, pushed and kicked two women and a man, who are homosexuals, and shouted homophobic slurs at them in Spanish while they were at the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 78th Street, the criminal complaint said.
The entire act was caught on videotape by a surveillance camera, according to the criminal complaint.
One of the victims had a scraped forehead, another had a swollen face and the third victim had a laceration on his arm, the complaint said.
When an officer was trying to apprehend the suspects, Franco and Rojas allegedly flailed their arms when they were being handcuffed, according to the complaint. Rojas allegedly fled from an officer, according to the complaint.
