Bronx woman hit, killed by van in LIC: Police

LONG ISLAND CITY — A Bronx woman was killed Saturday after she was hit by a van at the corner of 40th Avenue and 12th Street, police said.

Apostol Cela, 29, of 12-18 27th Ave., was driving a 1997 Ford Van at around 8:30 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to the NYPD.

Cela was making a left turn from 12th Street onto 40th Avenue when he allegedly struck 46-year-old Evelyn Gonzalez, who was crossing the street inside the cross walk, police said.

Cela was charged with aggravated unlicensed operations of a vehicle, police said.
