Long Islander was DUI in Elmhurst: Brown

ELMHURST — A Valley Stream, L.I., man has been arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, going the wrong way on a one-way street and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

A detective allegedly spotted Justin Palmore, 26, driving his 2007 Mitsubishi in reverse down a one-way street near a garage the detective was surveilling, at 48-17 91st St., at about 10:30 p.m. June 23, the DA said.

Palmore allegedly struck the detective’s parked vehicle on the passenger side then fled the scene, after which the detective pursued the Mitsubishi and determined that Palmore allegedly appeared intoxicated, according to the DA.

Palmore allegedly said he had drank two Corona beers and two Slushies with a mix of vodka, according to the DA, and an intoxilyzer exam allegedly indicated that he had a .125 blood alcohol level.

Palmore was arraigned June 24 and released without bail.
