NYPD rescues sinking boat in Whitestone

WHITESTONE — A vessel contacted authorities July 4 to alert them that it had been involved in an accident with 10 people onboard, Breaking News Network reported late that evening.

The vessel transmitted a Mayday message on VHF-16 reporting that it had struck a buoy and was taking on water.

The NYPD Harbor Unit responded to the scene between the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges, and the boat was beached, according to BNN.

No injuries or deaths were reported in connection with the incident.
