Motorists hoping to take the Queens Midtown Tunnel into Manhattan this weekend might want to make a change of plans, as the Manhattan-bound tube will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.

The city Metropolitan Transportation Authority is closing half of the tunnel for construction that will last until 2 a.m. Monday, according to the city.

The remaining tube will allow two-traffic open only to cars and city buses, and commercial drivers will be required to find another way across the East River.

The MTA warned of delays, and advised motorists to take the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge or the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel as alternatives.

The closure will allow construction crews to repave or replace the concrete surfaces along portions of the tunnel and repair potholes, according to the city.
