Cops find man shot in Far Rockaway house

FAR ROCKAWAY — Police officers from the 101st Precinct responded Sunday to a 911 call of a male shot inside 14-30 Hassock St. in Far Rockaway.

Upon arrival, the officers found 19-year old Ramel Gittens of Hollis with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

According to the police, EMS responded to the scene and took Gittens to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said they have arrested 24-year-old Shawn Jones of 12-70 Redfern Ave. in Far Rockaway on murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm charges.
