Woman in Corona struck and killed by minivan

CORONA — A pedestrian attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Corona Avenue and 93rd Street Sunday was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to the NYPD.

At approximately 7 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a 25-year-old woman who was struck by a GMC minivan driven by a 50-year-old Asian while she was attempting to cross from the north to the south side of the avenue, the police said.

EMS responded to the scene and the victim was removed to Elmhurst General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and there appears to be no criminality at this time, according to police.

The investigation was still ongoing.
