Avella must care about entire district

I am happy, Joseph R. Maligieri, that state Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) responded to your concerns (“Avella cares about constituents,” Aug. 18-24).

But I notice you live in the northern part of the district. It has been my experience that he tends to ignore the southern part of the district.

I, too, had a tree problem. A nearby tree was so overgrown at the base that pedestrians had trouble negotiating the sidewalk, muggers had a great hiding place and wheelchair users could not get by on the sidewalk at all.

I sent Avella an e-mail with pictures of the tree. I got a robo-reply. A week later, when someone in an act of civil disobedience corrected the condition, I sent Avella another e-mail. I got another say-nothing robo-reply.

I guess I have to move north of Union Turnpike, the Long Island Expressway or maybe Northern Boulevard to be represented by this guy. Us poor slobs around Hillside and Jamaica do not count.

Our only green is on our overgrown trees.
