Woman steals shrimp from Briarwood shop: DA

BRIARWOOD — A Brooklyn woman was charged with attempted petit larceny after she allegedly stole five bags of frozen shrimp from a Briarwood Key Food, a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Beverly Graney, 52, of 1738 East New York Ave. in Brooklyn, allegedly took five bags of frozen shrimp from the store at 138-37 Queens Blvd. around 4:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and put them in a plastic bag to conceal the theft, according to the criminal complaint.

A Key Food employee apprehended Graney and recovered the shrimp, the complaint said.

Graney was arraigned Jan. 4 on a charge of attempted petit larceny before Queens Criminal Court Judge Suzanne Melendez, who set bail at $1,000, the DA spokeswoman said.

Graney is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 26, the spokeswoman said.
