SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — Police are looking for a suspect who they say tried to rape early Sunday near 145th Road.
Around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, the 40-year-old victim was approached by the suspect, who allegedly pushed her to the ground, punched her several times in the face and attempted to rape her, according to police.
A nearby resident heard the victim’s screams, and the man fled the scene, according to investigators.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for bruises to her face, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male, around 30 years old, 5-foot-7 and approximately 175 pounds, police said.
He was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and dark, baggy jeans and possibly has a laceration to the hand, according to investigators.
