TimesLedger Newspapers

HOLLIS — A 21-year-old woman was arrested Saturday after she abandoned her baby boy in the middle of the street, police said.

Alexandra Cherenfant, of 222nd Street, was charged with reckless endangerment and abandonment after she left her child in a stroller in the middle of the street at 111th Avenue and 190th Street around 5 a.m., according to investigators.

A neighbor heard the baby’s cries and called 911, which sent an ambulance and transported the baby to Queens Hospital Center, police said.

The baby was listed in stable condition, but the mother was placed under arrest later in the day, according to police.
